Smith, Posley Share Final A-10 Player of the Week Award

NEWPORT NEWS, Va.- Dayton junior Scoochie Smith and St. Bonaventure senior Marcus Posley were named the Atlantic 10 Men's Basketball Co-Players of the Week Monday. Fordham freshman Joseph Chartouny was chosen as the league's Rookie of the Week. The awards, the final for the regular season, are for games played Feb. 29 - March 5.

Smith led the Flyers to two wins, a piece of the A-10 regular season championship and the No. 1 seed in the A-10 tournament with back-to-back career-high performances. He entered the week never having scored 20 points in a college game, and he got that after halftime in both wins. A guard from Bronx, N.Y., he scored 24 of his 26 points in the one-point game at Richmond in the second half. Smith then scored 23 of his 29 in the second half and overtime in the VCU win. For the week he averaged 27.5 points, 5.5 rebounds and 5.0 steals with 10 assists in the two games. He also shot .571 (16-28) from the field, .556 (5-9) from 3-pt. and .818 (18-22) from the line. In the VCU win, he also matched his career-high in rebounds (8).

Posley had the best scoring game in Division I this year, pouring in 47 points in a win over Saint Joseph's, followed by 18 points at Saint Louis to lead the Bonnies to their first-ever A-10 regular season title, which was shared with Dayton and VCU. The guard from Rockford, Ill., was 15-of-19 (.780) from the field against the Hawks, including an incredible 6-for-7 from 3-point range. He was also nearly perfect at the line, shooting 11-of-12 (.910). The 47 points tied the fourth most in a single game in A-10 history. His 18 points against the Billikens came on 5-for-10 (.500) from the field and 6-of-7 (.850) at the line. He also had four assists and two steals on the regular season finale.

A forward from Saint-Hubert, Quebec, Chartouny averaged 13.0 points, 3.5 rebounds and 8.0 assists in a pair of Fordham wins. He added to his Fordham freshman assists record which now stands at 148. Chartouny had 13 points, four rebounds and nine assists in win over Rhode Island and 13 points, three rebounds and seven assists in win at Duquesne. This marked the second straight week Chartouny earned rookie honors and the seventh time overall this season.

Jack Gibbs had 31 points, four steals and six assists in Davidson's season-ending win over George Washington ... Senior Derrick Colter averaged 17.5 points, 9.5 assists, 6.0 rebounds and 2.0 steals in Duquesne's final two games ... Senior Ryan Rhoomes recorded back-to-back double-doubles, averaging 21.0 points and 12.0 rebounds in a pair of Fordham wins, finishing the regular season with eleven double-doubles this year, including five of the past six games ... George Mason senior Shevon Thompson, also averaged a double-double of 12.0 points and 12.5 rebounds per game, including being two rebounds shy of his career-high, with a game-high 17 rebounds against Richmond ... Mason freshman Otis Livingston II matched his career-high on Saturday, scoring 21 points in the win over Richmond, going 7-of-8 from the floor and 5-of-5 from three-point range ... Kuran Iverson averaged 14.5 points, 9.5 rebounds, 1.5 assists, and 2.0 blocks in a 1-1 week for Rhode Island ... Saint Joseph's senior Isaiah Miles scored his 1,000th career point, the 53rd Hawk to hit that milestone, after entering the season with just 444 career points ... Saint Louis's Reggie Agbeko notched career highs of 20 points and 16 rebounds against St. Bonaventure, shooting 81.8 percent (13-of-19) in the two games last week, including a sizzling 9-of-11 performance from the field against the Bonnies ... Billiken freshman Jermaine Bishop averaged 12.0 points per game last week for SLU with 15 points at La Salle and nine against St. Bonaventure while record eight assist in the two games.
