Richmond’s Allen Selected as Atlantic 10 Player of the Week

NEWPORT NEWS, Va.— Richmond forward Terry Allen was named the Atlantic 10 Men’s Basketball Player of the Week Monday, while Fordham freshman Joseph Chartouny was selected as Rookie of the Week. The awards are for games played Nov. 23-29.
Allen averaged 27.0 points and 9.5 rebounds in two games against ranked teams in Las Vegas. He scored a career high 34 points and 13 rebounds in Richmond's win over No. 14 Cal on Friday, earning a spot on the Las Vegas Invitational All-Tournament team. In that game, Allen also shot 17-of-21 from the free throw line, hitting the most free throws for a Richmond player since 1969. Allen, a forward from Houston, Texas, currently ranks second in the A-10 in scoring and third in rebounds.
Chartouny averaged 13.0 points and 9.5 rebounds per game in two Fordham wins last week. He had a 15-point, 10-rebound double-double in the Rams’ win over Colgate. He shot 50 percent (4-of-8) from the field and was a perfect 4-of-4 at the line while dishing out five assists in that game. The guard from Saint-Hurbert, Quebec, followed that with 11 points, nine rebounds and four assists in the Battle of the Bronx, a win over Manhattan.

Davidson’s Peyton Aldridge averaged 21 points last week, helping longtime coach Bob McKillop secure his 500th career win in a victory over Denison … Scoochie Smith earned Advocare Invitational All-Tournament team honors, averaging 14.3 points, 6.7 rebounds and 4.3 assists while shooting 55.6 percent from 3-point range … Dayton freshman Xeyrius Williams scored 17 points and 10 rebounds for the Flyers in the Advocare Invitational … Duquesne’s Derrick Colter had three monster games for the Dukes, including a 27-point performance against Milwaukee in which he was 10-of-14 from the field and 3-for-4 from 3-point range … Ryan Rhoomes had a 20-point, 10-rebound double-double in Fordham’s win over Manhattan in the Battle of the Bronx … Marquise Moore averaged 11.0 points, 5.0 rebounds and 4.5 assists in a split week for George Mason … Mason freshman Otis Livingston scored 14 points in the Patriots’ win over Wright State, while also shooting .600 from 3-point range for the week … Tyler Cavanaugh averaged 17.0 points per game in three games last week for George Washington, hitting 54.3 percent of his shots from the field and 83.3 percent at the line … La Salle’s Jordan Price averaged 23.3 points per game, including a 33-point performance against Lafayette in which he shot 78.6 percent from the field and 75 percent from 3-point range … Four McGlynn tallied 27 points against Rider on Sunday for Rhode Island, doing damage from beyond the arc where he shot 6-of-10 (.600) … St. Bonaventure’s Marcus Posley scored 35 points in the Bonnies win over Canisius, with a perfect 9-for-9 performance at the line and an 11-for-21 (.524) from the field … Mike Crawford scored 20 points for Saint Louis against Louisville while also dishing out three assists.
