POLLSTAR AWARDS BARCLAYS CENTER WITH “2013 ARENA OF THE YEAR”

BROOKLYN (February 24, 2014) – Barclays Center was named “2013 Arena of the Year” at the 25th Annual Pollstar Awards, which was held on Friday, February 21 in Nashville, TN. The award was decided entirely by Pollstar subscribers through an online vote.

 

Barclays Center was selected from an impressive list of “Arena of the Year” nominees including BOK Center (Tulsa, OK), Bridgestone Arena (Nashville, TN), Madison Square Garden Arena (New York, NY), SAP Center at San Jose (San Jose, CA), and Staples Center (Los Angeles, CA). At the Pollstar Awards last year, Barclays Center was named “Best New Major Concert Venue.”

 

“We are proud to have been recognized as the Arena of the Year at the Pollstar Awards and appreciate the overwhelming support by Pollstar subscribers,” said Barclays Center CEO Brett Yormark. “Our goal is to continue to create memories by giving our guests the best experience at every event.”

 

According to Pollstar, Billboard, and Venues Today’s 2013 year-end reports, Barclays Center finished first in revenue and tickets sold for major U.S. arenas with capacities of 15,001 or more. In worldwide rankings, Billboard ranked Barclays Center second in tickets sold and third in revenue (for all non-Nets events).

 

Upcoming shows include Avett Brothers (March 7); Atlantic 10 College Basketball Tournament (March 12-16); Black Sabbath (March 31); Miley Cyrus (April 5); The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony (April 10); Cher (May 9); Avicii (June 28) Katy Perry (July 24-25); and the World Premiere of Marvel Universe Live (August 13-17).
