NINE NATIONALLY RANKED COLLEGE BASKETBALL TEAMS HEADLINE THE 2016-17 BROOKLYN HOOPS SCHEDULE AT BARCLAYS CENTER
Oct 31, 2016BROOKLYN (November 2, 2016) – Nine of the nation’s Top 25 ranked college basketball teams in the Associated Press preseason college basketball poll will headline the 2016-17 season of BROOKLYN HOOPS™ at Barclays Center.
Legends Classic will return to Barclays Center for the fifth consecutive year on Nov. 21 and 22 and will feature Notre Dame vs. Colorado followed by No. 21 Texas vs. Northwestern. The Fighting Irish, who reached the Elite Eight of the NCAA Men’s Basketball Championship last season, will play Colorado for the first time ever.
In the NIT Season Tip-Off on Nov. 24 and 25, Temple will face Florida State, followed by No. 20 West Virginia vs. Illinois.
Barclays Center Classic presented by Continental Tire on Nov. 25 and 26 will feature Kansas State vs. Boston College and No. 25 Maryland vs. Richmond.
On Nov. 26, in the BROOKLYN HOOPS Holiday Invitational presented by Honda, No. 19 Syracuse will face South Carolina. The Orange, who will make their debut at Barclays Center, advanced to the Final Four of the NCAA Men’s Basketball Championship last season.
The BROOKLYN HOOPS Winter Festival returns to Barclays Center on Dec. 11 and will feature three local teams. St. John’s will take on LIU Brooklyn, followed by No. 2 Kentucky vs. Hofstra. Kentucky enters the 2016-17 season with the nation’s top recruiting class, according to ESPN.
An LIU doubleheader will take place on Dec. 21. LIU Brooklyn will play University of Maryland-Baltimore County (UMBC) in a women’s matchup, followed by the LIU Brooklyn vs. Niagara University men’s game.
For the first time, Barclays Center will host the ACC Men’s Basketball Tournament on March 7-11, 2017. The tournament includes five ranked teams, No. 1 Duke, No. 6 North Carolina, No. 8 Virginia, No. 13 Louisville, and No. 19 Syracuse.
The games at Barclays Center will be televised on ESPN, FS1, and other channels to be announced. Select games will be livestreamed on Front Row.
