Lights Out for Earth Hour
Mar 17, 2016On Saturday, March 19, Barclays Center will join millions of people and organizations worldwide to raise awareness about climate change by participating in Earth Hour.
As part of a World Wildlife Fund initiative and a campaign organized by AEG 1EARTH, AEG’s industry-leading corporate sustainability program, Barclays Center will turn off its non-essential lights from 8:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. The Oculus, LEDs behind the exterior steel panels and façade signage — including “Barclays Center” on the side and front of the building — as a symbolic call to action to protect our planet.
Earth Hour 2016 calls upon its millions of supporters around the world to shine a light on climate action, to celebrate what we have achieved together and reiterate our collective commitment towards changing climate change (#ChangeClimateChange). In 2016, the tenth occurrence of this event, Earth Hour will be observed across all time zones simultaneously and turn the “lights out” on countless global landmarks, from the Eiffel Tower in Paris to the Empire State Building in New York to the Burj Khalifa in Dubai.
