Joe Johnson Named to 2014 Eastern Conference All-Star Team
Jan 30, 2014BROOKLYN, NY – Brooklyn Nets guard Joe Johnson has been selected as a reserve on the 2014 Eastern Conference All-Star Team, the NBA announced tonight. The 63rd NBA All-Star Game will be played in New Orleans on Sunday, Feb. 16, 2014.
"On behalf of the entire Nets organization, I want to congratulate Joe on his selection to the 2014 All-Star game," said Nets General Manager Billy King. "Joe epitomizes what a true professional is, and we are thrilled at this honor."
This marks the seventh career All-Star selection for Johnson, who was selected in six consecutive seasons, from 2006-2012, as a member of the Atlanta Hawks. Through 42 games this season, Johnson is averaging 15.7 points, 3.4 rebounds and 2.8 assists per game. He has led the team in scoring 15 times with nine 20+ point games and three 30+ point games. Johnson scored a season-high 37 points on Dec. 16 vs. Philadelphia, including tying an NBA season-high with 10 three-pointers made.
Johnson is the 14th player in Nets franchise history to be selected to the NBA All-Star Game, joining Buck Williams (three times), Otis Birdsong, M.R. Richardson, Derrick Coleman, Kenny Anderson, Jayson Williams, Stephon Marbury, Jason Kidd (five times), Kenyon Martin, Vince Carter (three times), Devin Harris, Deron Williams and Brook Lopez.
