ISLANDERS ANNOUNCE HOME OPENER
Jun 24, 2015BROOKLYN (June 24, 2015) – The New York Islanders will open the 2015-16 season at their new home, Barclays Center in Brooklyn, on Friday, Oct. 9 at 7:30 p.m. against the Chicago Blackhawks.
The first ever regular-season National Hockey League game in Brooklyn features John Tavares and the Islanders against Jonathan Toews and the reigning Stanley Cup Champion Blackhawks.
“Opening night for the Islanders at Barclays Center represents an historic event for Brooklyn,” said Barclays Center CEO Brett Yormark. “We are proud to welcome the Islanders to their new home and to host the first-ever regular season NHL game in the borough. There's great anticipation for the team's inaugural season and we are ready to offer fans a memorable experience on opening night.”
