BARCLAYS CENTER PARTNERS WITH TRANSPORTATION ALTERNATIVES TO PROVIDE FREE BIKE VALET SERVICE FOR ARCADE FIRE CONCERTS

Aug 19, 2014

BROOKLYN (August 19, 2014) – Following  the successful bike valet service offered at The National concert last summer, Barclays Center will partner with Transportation Alternatives again to provide free bike valet for three nights of Arcade Fire at the arena on August 22, 23 and 24.

“Arcade Fire concertgoers planning on biking to the show can leave their bike locks at home,” said Steve Rosebrook, General Manager of Barclays Center. “We are thrilled to welcome back this complimentary parking service that celebrates the Brooklyn lifestyle.”

“Barclays Center is the most accessible and environmentally friendly entertainment venue in the city,” said Ashley Cotton, Senior Vice President for External Affairs at Forest City Ratner Companies, the developer of Barclays Center. “It only makes sense to provide free bike parking for a band that sings about the impacts of suburban sprawl.”

“Arcade Fire fans on bikes will be singing ‘No cars go’ as they pedal past the traffic jams in Downtown Brooklyn, ride up to Barclays Center, leave their bikes with the valet and enjoy the show,” said Paul Steely White, Executive Director of Transportation Alternatives. “Let’s go.”

Starting at 6 p.m. the day of each show, riders can drop off their bikes in one of the 400 parking spots located on Dean Street between Flatbush and 6th Avenues. Bikers will then be met by Transportation Alternative valets, who will provide a branded claim check for their bike and helmet. Locks are not necessary, as it is a secure and safe transportation choice.

Arcade Fire will perform at Barclays Center on Friday, August 22, Saturday August 23, and Sunday August, 24 at 7:30pm. Tickets can be purchased online via Ticketmaster by visiting www.barclayscenter.com, www.ticketmaster.com or by calling 800-745-3000. Tickets are also available at the American Express® Box Office at Barclays Center.

Transportation Alternatives’ Bike Valet is a must-have service for a growing number of events in Brooklyn and citywide. For more information about the program, visit: www.transalt.org.

Arena staff will work closely with the MTA to coordinate mass transit to and from the arena and with the NYPD and other City agencies to ensure safety and security procedures are strictly followed and enforced.
