Barclays Center and the Brooklyn Nets Team with BlackBerry in a Sponsorship Alliance

Apr 4, 2013

BROOKLYN (April 4, 2013) – Barclays Center and the Brooklyn Nets are teaming with BlackBerry® in a sponsorship alliance that will give the wireless innovator a prominent presence in the heart of New York City.

This partnership marks a significant alignment among three brands that are all focused on driving tremendous innovation and reaffirming deep ties with New York City.

As part of the alliance with Barclays Center, BlackBerry will receive the entitlement of the BlackBerry Lounge, previously the South Club, which is located on the Barclays Suite Level and is accessible to suite holders and All Access seat holders. In addition to receiving extensive branding in the Lounge and street-to-seat brand domination LED signage during every event at Barclays Center, BlackBerry will have a permanent experiential zone on the arena’s Ticketmaster Main Concourse, where guests will be able to try the latest BlackBerry® 10 smartphones.

Other aspects of the sponsorship alliance include BlackBerry becoming a sponsor of BROOKLYN HOOPS™, which is Barclays Center’s college basketball platform, and the Barclays Center Business Alliance.

The BlackBerry alliance with the Brooklyn Nets will launch tonight when the team hosts the Chicago Bulls. Several of the sponsorship features include in-arena moments of exclusive LED signage, television visible courtside and baseline signage, radio and Internet.

BlackBerry will be the presenting sponsor of the Nets-Philadelphia 76ers game on April 9 at Barclays Center, and next season will be the presenting sponsor of select games and for Brooklyn Nets Social Media Nights at Barclays Center.

“We’re excited about building this relationship with Barclays Center and with the Brooklyn Nets,” said Frank Boulben, Chief Marketing Officer at BlackBerry. “The Barclays Center brings some of the world’s most exciting entertainment and sports events to the heart of Brooklyn. We look forward to being a part of that, and to showcasing how BlackBerry 10 is built to keep New Yorkers moving.”

“We are proud to prominently align with such a global mobile leader as BlackBerry, as it seeks to reinvent itself in the world of mobile computing,” said Barclays Center and Brooklyn Nets CEO Brett Yormark. “Barclays Center and the Brooklyn Nets continue to help companies shape their brand and grow their business, and we are delighted to utilize our platforms to communicate BlackBerry’s message of excellence.”
